Pond Water Quality Guidelines

Here is a quick guide to monitoring your pond water quality to help you keep your pond healthy.
pH: Your pond pH should be at or near 7.0 which is neutral. Slightly higher, upt to around 8.0 can be ok. The key is to watch for pH fluccuations.
D.O.: Dissolved oxygen levels should be above 5 ppm
Ammonia: Should be as close to zero as possible and never above .5 ppm
Nitrite: Should be as close to zero as possible and never above .25 ppm
Hardness (pH Buffering capacity): 120-300 ppm
If you can keep these parameters in check you will ensure yourself of a healthy pond and better quality fish.
