External Pond Filters
External pond filters, as the name implies, are placed on the outside of the pond and come in several varieties including gravity flow, pressurized and waterfall filters. This type of filter is commonly used with larger ponds or ponds with a high fish load where high flow rates are required. Most or equipped with bio media chambers and some even include uv filters.

Great for small to medium ponds. Uses gravity to force water through the filter and return it to the pond. Cannot push filtered water to elevated heights.

Pressurized filters are used when filtered water needs to be pushed to a higher elevation or to another area like in the case of a waterfall or stream.
|
Waterfall filters combine filtration at the point of the waterfall with a weir and discharge point to create a waterfall or stream effect for a pond.
